So, it's been a little quiet around here. Just a bunch of weekend reading posts. There's a reason!
It all started several years ago. I was nannying 2 itty bitty babies at the time and was in my first year of grad school. I was knitting a Christmas gift for my sister and I noticed that my right elbow, forearm, wrist, hand, and fingers would tense up and get really sore for days at a time. I sucked it up and just worked through the pain. Finally it got to the point where I was pretty sure I had arthritis or carpal tunnel or something, so I went to my mom's carpal tunnel specialist. He took some x-rays and had me describe my pain and then he said one of the most comical things I have ever heard: I had tennis elbow. The remedy was even more comical: I needed to start sleeping with my arms straight. I laughed. He was totally serious.
Apparently when you do a bunch of activities which require keeping your elbows bent (i.e.: holding babies, writing papers on a laptop, and knitting, 3 things I was pretty much constantly doing) you can develop good old fashioned tennis elbow, no tennis required.
And so now and again it flares up. You know what really exacerbates it? The iPhone. Yep. All that scrolling through Insta and Facebook and Buzzfeed. Especially when laying in bed. So I've been taking it easy for the last few weeks and I've tried cutting back on social media (not very well, I might add). I've also been taking it easy(ish) on the crafting, thus the lack of posts. Hopefully I'll be good to go soon! In the meantime I can be found stretching my arm and fingers while watching Jane the Virgin.
